Barberton City School District recently issued the following announcement.
Girls, did you know that can choose the prom dress of your dreams FREE from Altrusa International of Akron Princess Night Project?
This year’s Princess Night Project is 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Kohl Family YMCA, located at 477 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44304.
No recommendation or qualification is needed. Any girl who attends can choose from more than 1000 gowns hanging by size on the many racks. Altrusa asks only for the name of the girl’s school and how she heard about Princess Night Project.
Once registered, the girls select a gown with the help of aides to direct them to the proper sizes. The aides act as “personal shoppers,” helping make selections from the dresses. Should the gown need a few alterations to make it fit perfectly, no problem. Altrusa has it covered. Seamstresses are available to make minor alterations. Altrusa also offers a large selection of dressy shoes and other accessories such as purses, wraps and jewelry. Masks will be required.
Altrusa is accepting donations of new or gently used prom gowns, shoes, jewelry, purses and wraps. Gowns and accessories may be brought to the event location on Friday, March 11, during the hours of 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All donations are tax-deductible.
