City of Green Living Green Task Force Hosts Clean Water Town Hall on May 19 at 6pm

GREEN, OH -- The City of Green Living Green Task Force (LGTF) hosts a Clean Water Town Hall on Thursday, May 19 at 6 pm at Central Park Community Hall, 1755 Town Park Blvd.   The town hall will feature two watershed specialists who will address our region’s watershed health and opportunities for community members and volunteers to positively impact the health of our water system.

Maia Peck, Watershed Planner & GIS Specialist for the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning & Development Organization (NEFCO), a part of the regional team developing the Portage Lakes Management Study, and  Stephanie Deibel, Watershed Coordinator for Summit Soil & Water Conservation District, will focus on the health of the Portage Lakes system, Green and the region’s surrounding watershed.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, the Living Green Task Force is hosting several town halls in 2022 to highlight Living Green Task Force’s focus areas: water, trees, clean air & energy, healthy community, and waste management.

“The Portage Lakes is an asset to the City of Green and greater Summit County area,” said Jeff Noble, Green City Councilman, and Portage Lakes Advisory Council President. “Improving the water quality of the Portage Lakes is critical to maintaining its recreational viability and the property values of residents who live around and adjacent to the lakes.”

At the May 19 event, the Living Green Task Force will also be honoring Kyle Lukes, Task Force chair since 2012, for his years of service to the community.  Kyle and his family are moving from Green and his contributions and vision for the Task Force will be greatly missed.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. No registration is required.
