7 pm Presentation

UA High School, 1625 Zollinger Road

Presentation Livestream

Mark your calendars to join us on Thursday, February 17 for a three-in-one evening that’s not to be missed: a chance to network with City leaders while enjoying the surroundings of the new UA High School, our annual State of the City Address from City Manager Steve Schoeny, and for important progress updates on the UA Community Center. While we hope you will be able to join us in person, a livestream of the presentation will also be available on our website, available by clicking here.

Beginning promptly at 7 pm in the auditorium, the State of the City Address portion of the evening will be succinct – previewing a series of videos that highlight key accomplishments from 2021 and take a look at 2022 projects. Our 2021 Community Award winners will be announced in the categories of Business, Community Enrichment, Community Safety, Senior and Youth. Representatives from the Upper Arlington Community Foundation will also be in attendance to provide an update on their UA Community Center Capital Campaign.

At approximately 7:30 pm, attention will shift in full to the new UA Community Center. Representatives from MSA Sport and Perkins & Will will provide an overview of the project schedule, the findings from various community engagement activities including the recent online community survey, and their detailed design work to date. This will include a preview of the proposed floor plans, and some interior and exterior 3D renderings showing concepts of what the facility will look like.

As a convenience for parents wishing to attend our event the Parks & Recreation Department will provide a preview of some of the activities that will happen in the Community Center once it is complete. On Court 1 of the Fieldhouse, kids can participate in basketball, volleyball, organized gym/camp games and casual play activities. In the Learning Center, Recreation Staff will be on hand with arts and craft activities, board and card games, and other passive activities. There is no minimum age requirement, but children should be independent in the bathroom. Masks will be required when not engaged in physical activity. While not required, RSVPs for participating in children’s activities is encouraged, to help UA Parks & Recreation plan appropriately, available at the following link: //upperarlington.seamlessdocs.com/f/StateoftheCity_RSVP

For health and safety reasons, we are asking all event attendees to wear a facemask when in the High School. As a courtesy for our guests, we will have a supply of masks available at the event entrance.

PARKING UPDATE

Parking at and around the High School is limited and we recommend an early arrival to find and secure a spot prior to the start of the event. ADA and limited regular parking is available in the front parking lot adjacent to the main entrance. Additional parking spaces are available along the High School block of Brandon Road. OR, take advantage of our shuttle service, which will be running between the OSU Wexner Medical Center parking lot at Kingsdale and the UA High School – just look for the Parks & Recreation 14-passenger van, which will be in service beginning at 5:30 pm.

We hope you can join us for our annual update on City happenings, and what promises to be an exciting progress report on the UA Community Center.
